The Napoleon Council Committee that reviews refuse and recycling got an update this week on the impact of changes in the curb-side program that keeps all glass out of the recycling stream, and limits on plastics. The results so far show a decline in recycling tonnage which was expected; along with an increase in the amount of refuse. At this point, Napoleon Council does not expect any changes in the cost for these services.
It was a whopper of a spring cleanup in Napoleon, with 40 tons more material collected. That’s an 8% increase over the previous record amount. There was also an increase in manpower since the pickup was extended by 3 days due to volume and weather conditions.
