HIGHWAY PATROL FOCUSED ON REMOVING IMPAIRED DRIVER

A special emphasis is underway at the Ohio State Highway Patrol, to take impaired drivers off the road.   OVI related crashes accounted for 34% of all fatal accidents in the state last year; but that’s down from the year before due to increased enforcement.

Last year there were 14,389 crashes involving impaired drivers, with 397 fatalities.  Troopers also removed over 27,000 impaired drivers from the highway.

At the Defiance Post, troopers arrested 207 drivers last year for being impaired.                      The public is encouraged to help in this life-saving effort by calling to report impaired drivers, drug activity, or stranded motorists.   Call #677.
