OHIO HISTORIC FARMS

The Ohio Department of Agriculture recognized 125 farms around the state last year that reached milestones in their years of family ownership.  Henry County had three of them:  The Guyer farm since 1902, the Panning Farm from 1917, and the Shawber farm dating back to 1897.

Fulton County had one family reach 100 years, the Ernst farm from 1917.

          Defiance County farms reaching a milestone included the Brunner-Crites farm since 1878, and the Sims farm from 1898.

In Williams County, the Stark Farm reached 100 years in the family, since 1917.

And in Putnam County there were 13 families with farms hitting milestones.  They are the Amstutz farm, Bendele, Carr, Kaufman, Knueven, Liebrecht, Neill, Rosengarten, Schroeder, Wannemacher, Wehri, Wischmeyer, and Zeller Farms.   The oldest is the Amstutz farm dating back to 1848.
