FATAL FIRE UPDATE IN DEFIANCE COUNTY

Although the identity of fatal fire victim in Defiance County is still unknown, more details have been release concerning the early Friday morning blaze.    The Noble Township fire department was first on the scene that morning around 1:15 to 1:30am, and found a body in the living room portion of the home.   Fire Chief Charley Weber says all indications point to the living room as the area where the flames ignited.  Damage to the split-level home is roughly estimated at $70,000; but the cause is still under investigation.    According to the report, some other occupants of the home in the Lake Christy Meadows subdivision had left that night, and they returned to the residence, and found flames coming from inside.  That generated the 9-1-1 call.  About 17 fire-fighters were on the scene early Friday, some up to 6 hours.   But the identity of the victim will still have to come through an autopsy, which could happen in the next day or two.   Chief Weber reports this is the first fatal fire in Noble Township in more than 40 years.
