Bids were opened for the construction project that would extend the Rails to Trails walking and biking trail into the village of Liberty Center. ODNR is paying 75% of the project through a grant. The low bidder for the project was Gerken Paving at just over $114,000. The village of Liberty Center is proving some manpower for the project which will serve as a portion of their matching investment. The plan is to extend the bike trail from east of the village, just over a mile, and ending-up at the Liberty Center train depot. Work could begin this fall; but the project is expected to wrap-up by June first of next year.
