A new survey asked 2,000 parents about their eating habits and found lots of us are so busy, distracted, rushed, or trying to soothe a fussy little one that we eat standing up a lot of the time. The survey, done by OnePoll on behalf of Jenny Craig, found that on average parents end up eating about 156 meals while standing, and zero moms and dads are surprised by these findings.
In addition to 52 days worth of breakfasts, lunches and dinners eaten on our feet, the survey also found parents put their kids’ health before their own, and again, we’re not shocked. More than half (57%) of parents admit their kids have a healthier diet than they do and 62% of moms put their family’s health - including their pets - before their own.
And the survey finds that part of why parents are so busy they eat standing up is that they spend an average of 27 hours a week on “basic parenting tasks” like helping with homework, cooking and driving kids to school or extracurricular activities. But for moms, it’s even more - they spend an around nine additional hours on other family-related tasks. No wonder we’re so tired.
