Motherhood isn't the sort of job where you clock in at nine and off at five. Mom's work every hour under the sun, pretty much. Now we have the research to confirm it.
A survey of 2,000 American moms of children ages five to 12 analysed their weekly schedule. The study, conducted by Welch's juice company, showed that the average mom begins her work at 6:23am and wraps at 8:31pm.
That makes a mother’s working week a total of 98-hours long, two-and-a-half times more than the average job. And even though a stay at home mom's workday is generally 14-hours, the survey showed the average mom gets just one hour and seven minutes of time to herself every day.
Casey Lewis of Welch’s juice says, “The results of the survey highlight just how demanding the role of mom can be and the non-stop barrage of tasks it consists of.”
In the meantime, moms and dads, lifesavers include wine, babysitters, family help, Netflix, drive-through meals, iPads, toys and healthy snacks.
