It’s no secret that being single isn’t always easy, especially when you are looking for love, and there’s no doubt it’s easier in some parts of the country more than others.
Well, WalletHub set out to determine which states are the best, and worst for singles, judging all 50 states on 27 key indicators of dating-friendliness, breaking them down into three categories opportunities, economics and romance and fun.
So, if you’re single and looking for love where should you move? Well, apparently California, which earns an overall rating of 66.75 out of 100, and ranks at number one for dating opportunities, and at number two for romance and fun. There is one downside to California though. It ranks second to last for dating economics, which means while you may find love there, it’s going to cost you.

On the flipside, you don’t want to be single in Arkansas, which earns an overall score of just 34.47, and lands pretty low on the list for dating opportunities, as well as romance and fun.

- Louisiana has the highest share of single adults, while Utah has the lowest.
- Maine has the highest gender balance of singles, while North Dakota has the lowest.
- Washington state has the most online dating opportunities, while Mississippi has the least.
