We’re always hearing that the key to good health is to get a good night’s sleep, but apparently it may also be the key to happiness. While doctors recommend folks get at least seven hours of sleep each night, a new survey reveals exactly how much sleep you need to be perfectly happy, and it turns out, it’s a few minutes more than what doctors recommend, and those minutes are very important.
A new study of 2,000 people finds that to be “perfectly happy” folks need to get exactly seven hours and six minutes of sleep. And while that may seem specific, those who get only seven hours rated themselves only “mostly happy.” And that’s not all, folks who said they are “somewhat happy” slept for six hours and 54 minutes, while those with less than six hours and 48 minutes of sleep reported complete unhappiness, and also exhibited “constant worry, and never a shred of gratitude.”
Overall, women have a harder time getting a good night’s sleep than men, with gals also admitting they were the least happy. Not surprising, young folks, those 25 or younger, get the most sleep, while single people also sleep the most as compared to those who are separated.
