"Star Wars" fanatics with deep pockets will now have their chance to own a piece of history from a galaxy far, far away. Luke Skywalker’s original lightsaber, used in both "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strike Back", is going on the auction block.
Luke’s saber is one of the prized items from The Profile Hollywood Auction 89, which takes place in Los Angeles from June 26-28th. The item has been in the possession of producer, Gary Kurtz, for the past few decades. The lightsaber is expected to go for anywhere between $150,000 – $250,000. Side note: the last Skywalker lightsaber prop pulled in $240,000.
It's not just "Star Wars" paraphernalia that will hit the auction block, other cool items like the late Bill Paxton’s armor from "Aliens," Marilyn Monroe’s first signed contract for 20th Century Fox, and costumes worn by legends like Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Prince will go to the highest bidder.
