ARMED ROBBERY IN HICKSVILLE LEADS TO A PURSUIT AND ARREST ON THURSDAY

An early morning armed robbery on Thanksgiving Day in the village of Hicksville led to a pursuit and arrest.   Hicksville Police were called to Phil’s One Stop on East High Street in Hicksville just after 3am Thursday morning, where an armed robbery took place involving a firearm. The suspect fled on foot; but responding officers spotted a vehicle fleeing from nearby. Police tried to stop the vehicle, which fled at a high rate of speed on State Route 2.  The driver eventually crashed the vehicle, in a rollover accident, that ejected the occupant.  That driver was identified as 24 year old Octavious Roberson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and was positively identified by the clerk at the carryout.  A firearm was also recovered from Roberson, and he was injured in the accident.  Roberson was transported to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne by Hicksville EMS. Octavious Roberson was arrested on a warrant for Aggravated Robbery, and transported to the Allen County Jail in Indiana, after release from the hospital. He will appear at an extradition hearing, with other charges pending in the case.  The clerk at the carryout was not hurt in the incident. The Highway Patrol and Defiance County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
