Some big developments were announced at the Tuesday meeting of Defiance City Council, covering housing and business. A public hearing was held for a new apartment complex to be located behind the Defiance Walmart off North Clinton Street. It would be situated on about 59 acres, and bring nearly 400 apartment units in a phased-in project. This will go to Defiance City Council for approval next week.The developer has constructed an apartment complex near Waterville, adjacent to U.S. 24 west of Toledo.
And negotiations are winding down for a business development project in a former brownfield remediation site. The new owners of the Hornish Trucking Company would move their business to the former S&K Hand Tools property off Hopkins Street.Their plan is to set-up a repair facility, and office for nearly 100 employees. They will receive a 10-year tax abatement on the property since it was Brownfield Clean-up site.
