DEFIANCE COUNTY 1ST RECIPIENT OF OHIO FUTURE FUND, POSSIBLE MEGA PROJECT

The state of Ohio and Defiance County Commissioners are joining forces to open a corridor of growth on the west side of Defiance. Defiance County has been named the first recipient of the All Ohio Future Fund, in a potential 14.6 million dollar investment at Defiance County’s mega-site.  Defiance County economic development is negotiating with a company they have been in-discussions with for over a year.  The parcel they are considering is located between Krouse and Whetstone Road, on property covering over 1,100 acres, that is flanked by the CSX and Napoleon-Defiance-and Western Railroads.

Defiance County would put-up an additional 1.5 million dollars to pay for infrastructure improvements needed at the site, that would open the Baltimore Road Corridor for both industrial and residential growth.  A major investment from the proposed company would be included, if they choose the Defiance County site.  And proximity to the Maumee River is also a factor in the project.
