Zendaya was one of the first celebrities to arrive at this year's Met Gala in New York City, and immediately drew the attention of everyone present at the illustrious event with her dark, edgy fit.
The "Euphoria" actress perfectly embodied this year's theme and dress code, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, The Garden of Time,” showing off a deep purple and green, tulle, mermaid gown with hummingbird accents created by fashion house Maison Margiela, complete with Bulgari jewelry (per E!News). The glamorous icon ascended the staircase with the perfect balance of grace and ferocity in a feathered, birdcage hat paired with birds that hung by her neck and accentuated the stunning look throughout.
The entire look, down to the blonde brows and dark red lip, was styled by Law Roach, who recently admitted to putting the ensemble together mere days leading up to the event.
Roach spoke with The New York Times on Thursday (May 2), just four days before the Met Gala, reveling that the look had yet to exist.
“I haven’t seen Zendaya’s dress! We’ve been on two press tours — 'Dune 2' and 'Challengers' — and doing two Vogue covers. The dress isn’t even made. They won’t fit until Saturday [May 4].” Last month, during an interview with Live with Kelly and Mark, Zendaya commented on the nervousness she experiences as she ascends the Met Gala stairs each year.
"Going up the steps is very daunting, and I haven't been back for maybe four or five years. So this is, like, my first time back at the Met in quite a while." Despite an initial fear of tripping, the standout shared that she loves seeing the looks come to life and enjoys helping stylists "create characters."
Just when attendees thought Zendaya's first Met Gala this decade couldn't be any more spectacular, the "Dune 2" star came back out with another look, this one featuring an extravagant black, off-the-shoulder gown with a long train and a large garden headpiece filled with colorful roses.
This is Zendaya's first Met Gala since 2019, and she absolutely stole the show. See the actress shine at the 2024 Met Gala in her extravagant "Garden of Time" fits below!
