TORNADO HITS IN PUTNAM COUNTY, HOME DAMAGED

A home-owner in Putnam County is assessing the damage after a tornado struck Tuesday afternoon near Leipsic.  The Putnam County Sheriff’s office received several 911 calls around 2:45pm Tuesday, when high winds caused extensive damage to a home on road H-5 near Leipsic. When law officers arrived, they found the resident of the home, who reported there were no injuries. The National Weather Service was alerted, and they reported no tornado showed-up on radar. But they believe the storm was an EF-0 tornado, packing winds of 65 miles per hour that caused the damage. Leipsic schools held their busses, and students and staff sheltered in place until the all-clear was issued.
