FATAL HOUSE FIRE CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A HICKSVILLE RESIDENT

A Monday morning blaze at a home near Hicksville has taken the life of an occupant inside. At 9:13am Monday (today), the Hicksville and Farmer Township Fire Departments were dispatched to 11811 Breininger Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the one-story wood frame residential structure. Mutual Aid was summoned from four neighboring departments: Sherwood, Edgerton, Antwerp, and Crane Township, supplying manpower and water. Delaware Township Fire Department was also called to the scene to relieve other firefighters.

Upon entry, fire crews found a victim inside, who was transported to the Community Hospital of Hicksville by Hicksville EMS. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital; but the name is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The state fire marshall's office has been called-in to investigate the cause of the blaze. Fire crews remained on the scene for hours, extinguishing hot spots, and assisting in the investigation.
