SIZEABLE DRUG MANUFACTURING OPERATION FOUND NEAR LIBERTY CENTER, W/ ARRESTS

A sizeable drug manufacturing operation in Henry County has led to a couple of arrests.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the complaint, that has led to charges of Illegal Manufacture of Drugs-a first degree felony offense, against 43 year old Gregory Kalvitz, Jr. and 32 year old Jessica Downing, both of rural Liberty Center.    Law officers searched the property near Liberty Center, and found dozens of marijuana plants, along with manufacturing equipment, and growing lights.  The marijuana was growing inside a building on the resident’s parcel.             The charges are first degree felonies due to the amount of marijuana involved, and the fact it was in close proximity of a juvenile. Gregory Kalvitz Jr. was also charged with Having Weapons while under Disability; since a handgun was found, and the defendant has a previous drug conviction.

Gregory Kalvitz Jr. is being held on a cash bond of a half-million dollars, and Jessica Downing is being held on bond of $250,000. They are both scheduled back in court for preliminary hearings on February 2nd in Napoleon Municipal Court.
