DEFIANCE COLLEGE RECEIVES 1.1 MILLION DOLLAR GRANT TO ATTRACT STEM STUDENTS

For the second time in two years,  Defiance College will receive a huge grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The award is part of the Choose Ohio First Initiative, designed to recruit and support students in the STEM fields of science, health, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The grant totals more than 1.1 million dollars, and is in addition to an award of nearly $750,000 a year ago to Defiance College. Randy Gardner, Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, says this program is designed to help grow the next generation of Ohio STEM scholars and industry leaders.

The money will be utilized in scholarships offered to students from Defiance College to help strengthen the state’s economy, and improve Ohio’s workforce development capacity.
