UNEMPLOYMENT RATE SURGES IN NW OHIO TO KICK-OFF 2022

The unemployment numbers for January in northwest Ohio indicated a surge in jobless claims all over the region.   Henry County saw its unemployment rate jump 2% in January, from the month before, hitting 6.2%.  That’s compared to the state average of 4.8% unemployment in Ohio.      Fulton County was also above the state average in January, which are the latest figures available, when they hit 5.1%.   Defiance County’s jobless rate was up over 1% at 4.2%; and Williams County recorded 4.1%.                 The lowest jobless rate in the region was Putnam County at 3.5%.

The highest unemployment rate in Ohio for January was 8.7% in Monroe County; while Holmes County and Mercer County were lowest in jobless figures for the state, at 2.9 and 3% respectively.
