OVERNIGHT SHOOTING IN PAULDING COUNTY LEADS TO INJURIES

A shooting incident early Monday in Oakwood sent two people to the hospital with injuries. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office was called to an altercation at 2:48am at the Landing Strip on First Street in Oakwood. The incident occurred outside on the street, where a fight broke out, involving 37 year old Dustin A. Dobbelaere of Defiance, and 32 year old Joseph Schilt of Oakwood. During the fight, a vehicle pulled-up, and 32 year old Charles Brown of Oakwood, exited the car and began firing a weapon multiple times at Dustin Dobbelaere. That ramped up the fight, and multiple people began to assault Charles Brown. Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers reports there were a number of conflicting statements provided to law officers during the investigation. But two subjects were transported from the scene with injuries: Dustin Dobbelaere and Charles Brown. They were both taken to Paulding County Hospital; but then transferred to other hospitals. Their condition is unknown; but law officers did recover a semi-automatic pistol used in the assault at the scene. The sheriff’s office is working with the Paulding County Prosecutor to determine what charges are to be filed in the case.
