NEW CONTRACT APPROVED FOR NON-TEACHING STAFF OF NAPOLEON AREA CITY SCHOOLS

There’s a new contract between the Napoleon Area City Schools and their non-teaching bargaining staff. The agreement was approved at the Wednesday board of education meeting, and calls for a 3% increase in the base salary for year-1, and a 2.5% hike in year-2.There are also incentives provided for staff to encourage a move to the high deductible insurance plan. These same increases will also be provided to the confidential staff and aides in the Napoleon district. Superintendent Dr. Erik Belcher reports the contract is a win-win, in that it is fiscally responsible, and allows the district to maintain a competitive package to attract employees.

In personnel action, the Napoleon School Board approved the hiring of a new guidance counselor- Megan Gerken, along with pre-school teacher-Alexis Weidenhamer, and bus driver Amanda Flathers. There were also resignations from staff, including bus driver Kathleen Strange, and from Title-1 teacher, Jason Olemacher.

The Napoleon School Board renewed their contract for drug testing for the coming year at $16,000, with no change in the cost.
