DEFIANCE COUNCIL APPROVES CHANGE TO POLICE UNION CONTRACT FOR TRANSFERS

On a first reading, Defiance City Council has approved an ordinance that will make some changes to the current contract with the police officers union. The amendment deals with transfers within the city’s employment. A similar proposal for the fire-fighters bargaining unit was let-lie to allow union members to vote on the measure.

Defiance City Council approved the third and final reading to pay for engineering services for the extension of Commerce Drive, to enhance economic development.

The Fort Defiance Humane Society brought the issue of feral cats before council, offering a solution through trapping, neutering, and releasing the animals. They are seeking financial support to implement the program.

A first reading was approved on legislation to make sidewalk improvements along Davidson and East Second Streets.

And everyone is invited to the Defiance City fireworks display on Friday night, July 2nd.They will be sent-up from Kingsbury Park, with some road closures announced in those neighborhoods.
