DEFIANCE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES PURCHASE OF PROPERTY FOR WETLANDS PROJECT

At the Tuesday meeting of Defiance City Council, an ordinance was approved authorizing the purchase of property on the east side of the city for a wetlands project. The 50-acre parcel is off East River Drive, and would create a wetlands for recreation and education.

There was a first reading on legislation to hire a consultant to help market the newly purchased building and property that’s part of the 1918 Defiance City School parcel on the south end of the downtown. The location is 629 Arabella Street, with the charge for the consulting service to be determined by a percentage of the total investment by the new developer.

And the second reading on an adjusted expansion of the Defiance Outdoor Refreshment Area was let lie, and headed toward a third reading in two weeks.
