DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DISCUSS HUNTING ON COUNTY PROPERTY

The topic of hunting on county property was a discussion item Thursday for Defiance County Commissioners, as they brought-in representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Commissioners are currently getting about ten requests per year, and they do allow bow-hunting on county land around the airport, and near their lagoons along state route 110.The question was whether that number was too many, and ODNR reported it was not for the amount of land considered. State wildlife officers did suggest a standardized parking area be set-up, if they want to proceed with hunting in Defiance County; along with improved signage to indicate where hunting is or is not permitted. More discussion on the topic of hunting on county property will take place.
