The 9th edition of the Henry County ‘battle of the schools’ electronics recycling event turned-out to be a win for all involved, from the school groups participating, to the environment of northwest Ohio.
Henry County Solid Waste Coordinator Mike Imbrock reports over 56,800 pounds of electronics that normally would have gone into the landfill, was recycled in the one-day event held last weekend. Liberty Center schools got the top prize with over 23,000 pounds collected, earning the $300 bonus, and a donation from the George Nicely family, taking their earnings for the day to over $3,900.
Napoleon High School was second in the collection with over 12,600 pounds, earning them a $200 bonus, plus the Nicely family donation, and a total take of about $2,400.Both Patrick Henry and Holgate High Schools collected over 10,000 pounds of electronic recyclables, and they walked away with about $1,900 for their fund-raising.
