HENRY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REVIEW MAINTENANCE NEEDS FOR HISTORIC COURTHOUSE

When you own a building that’s over 130 years old, you’ve got to keep up on the maintenance. And that’s what the Henry County Commissioners were discussing Thursday when they met with Eric Weller. One of the project needing attention is repairs to the courthouse tower clock, estimated at $6,000.When that’s complete, there may be another $16,000 job to do involving the clock dials and counterbalance weights. Weller also updated commissioners on roof repairs needed at the Henry County Transportation Network building in the Oakwood Plaza, estimated at about $2,500.

A final meeting was held with Henry County CIC executive director April Welch, who will be leaving her position for another opportunity in the Columbus area.

There was an executive session to discuss compensation of personnel, with no action taken.

And the Henry County Commissioners approved a contract to demolish a structure on county road 13 near Holgate. The cost is about $7,800 through Gray’s Concrete Construction Ltd.
