DEFIANCE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES FIRST READ ON PURCHASE OF PROPERTY

At Defiance City Council Tuesday night, two ordinances were approved for the purchase of land for two separate projects. The first is along West River Drive, and could be used for expansion of city parks along the Maumee river.

The other parcel is on Domersville Road on the east side of the city, along the Maumee River. That will be turned into a wetland to help improve the quality of storm water entering the Maumee. Grant dollars would help to pay for this land purchase. Defiance Council let lie a proposal to expand their downtown outdoor refreshment area, seeking more discussion.

And two more ordinances approved by Defiance Council deal with resurfacing of streets in Bronson and Kingsbury parks, along with Riverside cemetery.

The city of Defiance must also decide on how to spend about 3.4 million dollars in Cares Act Funds likely to come to the community in the months ahead.
