WAREHOUSE FIRE IN DEFIANCE IGNITES IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS

A warehouse fire in Defiance ignited in the early morning hours today (Tue.) sending multiple fire departments to the scene. The blaze was reported around 1:45am at the former Nafziger Ice Cream Plant at 902 Jackson Street, with flames showing from the rear of the structure. The building is currently occupied by A&H Automotive, and was a storage location for automotive parts. The structure is a total loss, with damage to the first and second floor of the facility. No one was transported with injuries; but the cause of the blaze is still being investigated by the state fire marshall’s office. At least ten other fire departments assisted Defiance Fire and Rescue at the scene, including Napoleon, Bryan, Paulding, Continental, and local township fire crews. A construction company has been called-in to demolish some of the building due to safety concerns.
