A community effort is underway in Ridgeville Corners to restore an historic gem in the village. The old Congregational Church that sits along the Ridge Road dates back to before the Civil War.Not only does it contain memorabilia from one of Henry County’s first church buildings; but it also served as a haven for slaves on their path to freedom from the south, along the Underground Railroad.
A fund-raising event for the Ridgeville Congregational Church is planned with a drive-thru chicken barbeque on August 9th at the Ridgeville Legion, with serving beginning at 11am that day.
