The highway patrol investigated a fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning on U.S. 24 in the city of Defiance.At 11:20am yesterday, 56 year old Darrell Deering of St. Johns, Michigan was westbound in his semi, and veered left across the median, across the eastbound lanes, striking a power line tower.Deering suffered critical injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In Defiance County Common Pleas Court, 43 year old Harvey D. Young, III of Holgate appeared for sentencing after a conviction for Operating a Vehicle while under the Influence.Young pled guilty and was sentenced to 24 months in prison, and had his license suspended for the rest of his life.He had a prior OVI conviction.
