DEFIANCE COUNCIL APPROVES KARNES AVENUE REBUILD, AND KINGSBURY POOL CLOSED

A couple of projects were approved on first readings at Defiance City Council Tuesday night.Plans are underway for the rebuild of Karnes Avenue, which is a 1.2 million dollar project. But grant money of $825,000 will help to pay for the construction.Defiance is answering findings and orders from the Ohio EPA for the installation of a granulated activated carbon water treatment system. The project should improve water quality for city residents, especially when the Maumee River has issues. That’s an 8 million dollar expense; but a zero percent loan will help with payback.

And Mayor McCann has announced the Kingsbury Park Swimming Pool will be closed this summer due to issues with the corona virus.A decision on the splash pad facility will be made in the next month.
