The first positive case of the corona virus in the four county area has been reported in Defiance County.The Defiance County General Health District reports the initial test coming back positive was for a female in her 50’s.The health district, along with area hospitals, healthcare providers, and community partners had been preparing for this news.
The health department is now working to identify any close contacts to this victim that might require testing or monitoring for symptoms.Any contacts that are found will be required to self quarantined and monitored for 14 days.
Defiance County Health Commissioner Jamie Gerken reports the news of a positive Covid-19 case is not surprising, due to the community spread already in Ohio.Symptoms of the corona virus include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, and they usually show-up within 14 days of exposure.Those at higher risk to get the virus are those over 60 with chronic illness or a weakened immune system.
