NAPOLEON COUNCIL APPROVES FIRST READ TO ALLOW 2ND GARBAGE BAG FOR REFUSE

The first reading on an ordinance to change Napoleon’s refuse collection rules, to allow a second bag for city residents each week, passed Monday at city council.This proposal will likely go through all three readings before being enacted.

Napoleon Council awarded the bid for the East and West Graceway Street improvement project to Helms and Company contractors of Findlay.The low bid was $430,000, which is about $35,000 under the engineer’s estimate.

Council passed the third and final reading for the ordinance to work with ODOT on some road projects, including repairs to the underpass at Scott Street, set for construction in June.

Two new SUV’s were approved for the Napoleon Police Department.

And Napoleon Council has scheduled a public forum on March 24th at Oberhaus Park to discuss the issue of raising money to pay for more staffing needed in safety services.The proposal is to reduce the income tax credit for Napoleon residents working outside the city, from 100% to 50%.That is estimated to generate about $400,000 annually.
