HOLGATE SCHOOL BOARD VOTES 3 TO 2 TO TURN DOWN BUCKEYE BORDER CONF. INVITE

By a vote of 3 to 2, the Holgate School Board of Education has voted to turn down an invitation from the Buckeye Border Conference, and remain a member of the Green Meadows Conference. The vote took place at the Monday night Holgate School Board meeting. The 3-2 vote took place after a couple of months of fact-gathering by a community committee in Holgate, that looked at travel, enrollment, and other factors. That community committee had recommended to accept the BBC invite, and was made up of students, coaches, booster members, the Holgate mayor, school administrators, and members of the school district.

The Green Meadows Conference had asked Holgate to move-up their vote so they could make plans for future athletic schedules, and they are scheduled to meet tomorrow to evaluate Holgate’s decision.
