The budget for next year has been approved in the city of Defiance.City Council passed the final reading on their spending plan for 2020, with the general fund expenditures at close to 10.8 million dollars.That includes a 2.5% pay increase for non-bargaining city employees that was approved by Defiance Council Tuesday night.Revenues are expected to be nearly flat for next year, while there is a slight increase in overall spending.With restructuring of water and sewer rates going forward, Defiance customers of water and sewer will likely see little change, and maybe even a slight decrease.Water only customers may see an increase.Defiance Council is gearing-up for the transition to an activated carbon water treatment system in 2021, so those rates will be moving upward in the years ahead.
