DEFIANCE COUNCIL APPROVES SENDING CITY CHARTER CHANGES TO NOV. BALLOT

At a special meeting Tuesday, Defiance Council has approved sending changes to the city charter on to the November general election for voter consideration.The measure passed by emergency.The amendments to the Defiance city charter include combining the zoning and planning boards in one group, which would help to expedite the review process for developments.This newly combined board would oversee developments for residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Other proposed charter changes involve language regarding pay raises for city council and the mayor, which would go into effect after the next elections.
