The village of Delta has been awarded a grant of nearly 3.3 million dollars to enhance rail service in the region.The money comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation, reports Senator Sherrod Brown; and it will be utilized for the Indiana and Ohio Rail Line.Specific upgrades will include improvements to the Port of Delta rail yard, and the addition of mainline siding capacity, which should benefit railroad freight service around northwest Ohio.The project calls for the installation of 14,000 new railroad ties, 43,000 tons of ballast, and the addition of 11 turnouts.The grant was submitted by the Ohio Rail Development Commission.
