NW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE GRADUATES 49TH CLASS

The commencement ceremony for Northwest State Community College this past Saturday, signaled the 49th class to graduate from the Henry County campus.286 students completed an associates degree or certificate program, and 41 of those graduates earned honors for their academic excellence.

An inspirational student address was presented by Magna Cum Laude registered nursing student, Brittany Opsomer of Deshler.Opsomer is a young mother raising two children, while her husband is stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.She told students, we are stronger from our sacrifices.Brittany also received the presidents outstanding student award at Northwest State.

The other commencement speaker was honor student Mark Oliphant of Edgerton, an All-Ohio academic team member.Oliphant’s path to an associates degree included a bout with substance abuse, and even imprisonment.

Rachel Buell was another presidents outstanding student recipient, and earned her certification in industrial maintenance.
