Next Friday, Henry County will host a special ceremony to honor 3 local law officers that gave their lives in the line of duty.It’s fitting the event is next week, which is Police Officer memorial week.
On April 13th, 1917, two Henry County law officers were transporting a prisoner, when their patrol car was struck by a train in Liberty Center.Both officers were killed that day:Sheriff Peter Reichert, and Deputy Welton McGill.
On March 19th, 1931, Napoleon Police officer Clark Teeple pulled-over a vehicle for a burned-out headlight.When he stepped out of his cruiser, Teeple was struck by a passing auto, and later that day, dies of his injuries.
These officers will be recognized in a short program outside the Henry County Courthouse in Napoleon at 11:30am, next Friday, May 17th.The public is invited to attend.
