EARLY MORNING FIRE STRIKES LOG CABIN RESTAURANT NEAR LIBERTY CENTER

For nearly 7 hours, local fire departments battled a blaze that ignited early this (Wed.) morning at the Log Cabin Restaurant near LibertyCenter.The first call was sent-out at 4:04am, and crews discovered a portion of the structure was well engulfed in flames.Through the efforts of the five fire departments, the north side banquet area of the restaurant was spared; but there was extensive damage to other areas of the building.It’s believed the flames broke-out in the kitchen area of the structure, but the exact cause is undetermined.The fire is not suspicious; but the state fire marshall’s office is looking for how the blaze started.Liberty Center fire chief Brian Baker reports the roof of the building fell-in, and much of the inside contents were destroyed.Crews utilized water from a nearby pond to help fight the fire, with Delta, Providence, Grand Rapids, and Napoleon sending manpower to assist LibertyCenter.There were no injuries reported in the incident.
