LIBERTY CENTER COUNCIL PROPOSES WATER RATE HIKE

There are proposals for water and sewer rate increases in the village of Liberty Center for this year.   At this week’s meeting, Liberty Center Council passed the first reading on a water rate increase of 10%, matching the hike passed-on by Napoleon.   And the sewer rate increase proposed for 2019 is 4%, and 4% for next year.   Those will come back for second and third readings.

Liberty Center Council has approved a contract for a phone notification system in the village, named ‘one call now’.   Residents will be receiving letters about how they can submit information for the system to contact them in emergencies.

A new contract for law enforcement patrol was approved with the Henry County Sheriff’s office at 30 hours each week, for $30 per hour.  It’s the same rate as a year ago.

The paving for the storm sewer project on West Maple Street in Liberty Center will be completed this spring.                   And contract talks are underway this week between Liberty Center and Napoleon regarding water supplies for the future.  The current agreement between the two communities expires next year.
