SEPTEMBER IS SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH

It’s difficult to discuss, but each day 123 Americans take their own lives.  That’s nearly 45,000 lives lost each year.  26 residents in the Four County area committed suicide last year; and another 14 deaths have been reported this year.

It’s estimated, 90% of those suicide victims were dealing with a mental health illness that was not being treated.     Many Americans deal with mental health issues; but the majority do not commit suicide.    There are friends, relatives, pastors, teachers, other school officials, and neighbors that want to talk to you about feelings of depression.   Reach out, and let them know you’re hurting.  This feeling is treatable, and a life doesn’t have to end to make that feeling go away.   There is a hotline available 24-7 at 1-800-468-4357.
