SWIMMING POOL HOT TOPIC AT NAPOLEON REC BOARD MTG.

For decades a swimming pool has been a hot-sport for summer recreation in Napoleon on Glenwood Avenue.   The latest pool facility was built in 1978, and is now becoming difficult to maintain and repair each year.   The Napoleon Rec Board discussed how to proceed on the topic of a new swimming pool, and there were visitors at the meeting seeking improvements as well.                  Rec Director Tony Cotter has been keeping Napoleon city council informed over the past years regarding this matter, and $125,000 have been set aside to invest in the swimming pool.   But many would like to see more features like water slides, splash pads, and more.            Cotter estimated a make-over like that would cost anywhere from 1.5 to 4 million dollars.   That would likely require a bond issue approved by voters; or a major donation from a resident or company.

Wauseon and Defiance have invested in new water recreation facilities, and have attracted a number of visitors.  For Napoleon to move forward on this project it will likely take a committee to review options, to determine how much of a financial investment is needed.   More details will be brought to the September parks and recreation board meeting.

The Napoleon Rec Board also approved a proposal for a new Gaga Ball pit that would be created for an Eagle Scout project by Brandon Moll (mull).  It will either be located in Oakwood or Glenwood Park.
