The village of Delta is working on a water system improvement project that will benefit the Nature Fresh greenhouse operation, and pay dividends for the future in the community. The village is seeking bids for a raw waterline from the Delta water plant, along with a pump station, at an estimated cost of 2.4 million dollars. Fulton County has already received a commitment of over 1.4 million dollars in grants for the project.
The raw water will be utilized in irrigation at the Nature Fresh facility, rather than buying treated water from the village. The greenhouse operation uses about 250,000 gallons of water a day. And their short-term plans likely will include another 45 acre expansion of the greenhouse vegetable operation over the next 3 years. Nature Fresh in Delta currently has about 140 employees.
