For nearly half a century, residents in the Midwest have celebrated their German heritage by making a stop at the Hamler Summerfest. This weekend is the 50th anniversary of the festival that started on the streets of downtown Hamler in the late 1960’s. A parade to commemorate the 5 decades of community involvement, and to remember past presidents is slated for this Saturday at 1pm. The Marv Herzog Reunion Band will kick-off festivities this Friday, and the polka music rolls through Sunday evening.
The great German food is back along with cold beverages, there’s a 5-k run on Friday at 7pm, along with a kids fun run, and Saturday tournaments include cornhole and pong. The whole weekend begins with an interdenominational worship service on Thursday, with all activities at the Hamler Community Park.
