The Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation has awarded grants totaling $745,000 for local fire departments to protect them from the harmful effects of carcinogens. The village of Hamler will receive over $12,000 to purchase an extractor washing machine, along with 24 hoods with barrier protection, and 24 washable gloves.
The village of Hicksville was awarded over $9,600 to an extractor unit, along with 70 hoods, and 35 washable gloves.
Another grant was awarded to Tiffin Township fire department for an extractor washing machine to remove carcinogens from gear, along with 10 barrier hoods and 10 washable gloves.
And the village of Leipsic will receive about $5,900 to purchase an extractor washing machine unit.
