Every county in northwest Ohio was either at or below the state average for unemployment in May. With the state jobless rate at 4.2%, Henry County showed the biggest decline, falling from 4.7 to 4.1% last month. Defiance County’s unemployment rate nudged up from 4.1 to 4.2% in May. Fulton County held steady at 3.7%; and Williams County had the lowest jobless rate in the four county area at 3.3%. Putnam County led the regional with an unemployment rate of 2.9%; while Wood County and Paulding County each checked-in at 3.7% .
Around the Buckeye State; the highest jobless rate was Monroe County at 6.5%. And it was Mercer County with the lowest unemployment in May, at 2.5%
