A trio of area fire departments converged on Liberty Center Wednesday afternoon, when a blaze ignited in the upstairs of a duplex on East Street. The Liberty Center fire department was first on the scene at 12:45pm at 710 East Street, where flames ignited in the living room of the four-room duplex. There was significant fire damage to all four rooms; but minimal damage to the downstairs portion of the structure. An adult male resided upstairs; but was not at home; and the downstairs occupant was able to escape unharmed. Just over 20 fire-fighters were on the scene for about two hours. The cause of the blaze is undetermined; but not suspicious. Napoleon and Delta provided mutual aid in fighting the fire.
