When taxpayers get that income tax refund check, it’s a happy day. But when you’re a city like Napoleon, and a number of companies are due to get refunds, it can throw the budget out of whack. That’s what Napoleon Council was discussing Tuesday night at the ‘finance and budget committee’. The city reports they owe about $621,000 to local companies for income tax refunds this year, a figure that’s about 3 times higher than normal. The committee could not come-up with a solution, so the issue of refunds will go before the full Napoleon Council on Monday.
That Monday Napoleon Council session will include a public hearing on establishment of a ‘downtown outside refreshment area’ at 6:45pm. And the bid award for the next phase of downtown street improvements should be ready for Monday’s meeting.
