DESHLER POLICE CHIEF RESIGNS

The village of Deshler has accepted the resignation of police chief Ryan Bowersox.   That action took place Tuesday night at the council session.  Brian Robinson will serve as acting police chief in the interim.  Bowersox is facing a felony charge of Aggravated Possession of Drugs from the Henry County Grand Jury.  He has served the village of Deshler since 2005, and was police chief the past 10 years.

Deshler Council approved a contract with the village of Malinta to provide police protection for a six month period, from July through December this year.  The contract is for four hours of patrol per week, at $25 per hour.

A block grant of $40,000 was awarded to Deshler for their sidewalk project in the village park.  Construction will be next year.

Donations for the annual family fishing day are lower than normal, so council was approached about a $300 contribution.  That event is August 5th, and other donations can be made at the village office.

And the Deshler swimming pool will open this weekend, on Saturday, June 2nd
